Overview
As part of the Rising Rajasthan initiative, Social & Media Matters collaborated with the Commissionerate of College Education, Rajasthan to deliver a series of impactful digital safety workshops for students across government colleges. These sessions addressed the urgent need for responsible digital citizenship in an era of rapid technological change.
Building Skills for a Safer Digital Future

Led by Pratishtha Arora, with active support from faculty and college staff, the workshops focused on practical, everyday tools students can use to protect themselves online. Key topics included:

  • Two-factor authentication and strong password practices
  • Managing privacy on WhatsApp, Facebook, and other social platforms
  • Understanding the true cost of "free" digital services and apps
  • Spotting fake accounts and minimizing data exposure
  • Protecting against phishing, identity theft, cyberbullying, and sextortion
The sessions were highly interactive, ensuring students not only learned what to do, but also felt confident applying these strategies in real-life scenarios.

Safe Spaces for Shared Learning

Beyond digital skills, the workshops fostered open dialogue, peer support, and critical reflection. Despite logistical challenges, the initiative succeeded in creating inclusive, empowering spaces where students could ask questions, share concerns, and feel seen.

This wasn’t just a training—it was a step toward building a culture of digital responsibility, resilience, and care across college campuses in Rajasthan.
